The Exposome: How pollutants affect our skin (and how you can keep it healthy)

The exposome. We get it, it sounds like a new sci-fi thriller or an underworld monster from Netflix's Stranger Things. Don't worry, it's nothing to be scared of. 

In simple terms, (1) the 'exposome' refers to the social and environmental factors a person is exposed to throughout their lifetime. These include nutrition, pollution, UV radiation, viruses, bacteria and more. These factors can influence how the skin looks and feels. Those of us who live in cities with a high pollution index might experience drier skin with more breakouts than those who live in more rural areas.
